Windows XP Ending 2014!

March 28, 2014

I saw this in the news recently and I wanted to share again for all of you incase you missed it.
Happy Friday!

Technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available on April 8, 2014. This means updates will no longer be available. This may not be a big deal for people who use their computer for personal purposes but if you’re a retailer this will definitely become a problem with your PCI Compliance.

The PCI Security Standards Council will not let systems that use out-of-lifecycle operating systems to be PCI compliant.  So, if you are a retailer accepting credit cards regardless of your payment software, could have complications with your bank.
